His Needs Her Needs is written by Willard Harley, published originally in 1986, and has been revised several times most recently in 2011. This book is a classic in marriage self-help books and is required reading for couples for whom I have provided marriage counseling. The book takes a good look at the differences (beyond plumbing and anatomy) in men and women, gives some practical suggestions about how one sex can respect the differences of the other sex and gives insight into how men and women think. I read it several years ago and have given it as a gift to several couples, especially those who are recently engaged. I just read it again and continue to be impressed with Dr. Harley's insights. I give it a 9 on the 10-point scale.
