Prayer request update
This is a quick update about the previous prayer request. My friend's father came through the surgery but is still in ICU. The doctors drained about 2 liters of urine off his stomach and repaired his new bladder. He did have a stress heart attack and at this point, his heart is only working about 25%. The drs are hoping that his heart will fix itself because he is not strong enough for any more surgery. He is off the ventilator and seems to be doing better. He is hoping to get out of ICU in the next couple of days but will still be in the hospital for a few more days.

A Special Day
Last night, we finished up our annual Vacation Bible School. On the last night each year, each class gives a Bible to student who participated well and showed good behavior all week. This year, I got it! My Dad gave it to me at the final assembly and embarrassed me in front of everybody by kissing me on my forehead. I spanked him for it when we got home.

Prayer request
Let me start this post out by saying what a wonderful husband I have. My best friend's father has been in ICU in one hospital for a week and was airlifted yesterday to a different hospital. He had surgery about 2 months ago to take out his bladder because it was cancerous and they built him a new one. He has not recovered from this but was put it ICU because he was anemic, had an infection somewhere, and his BP was very low. Today, they found out that he had a heart attack last week. He is in no condition for surgery but is in it right now. They do not even know if he will make it through. Normally, I would be there for my friend. However, last night in the middle of the night, I started getting sick to my stomach and have been in bed most of the day. Therefore, my wonderful husband is on his way to the hospital to check out the situation and provide some support. Please pray for Beth and her family during this time. Will update when I know something. Thanks and keep reading The Family of N.

From the Message Bin
“My biggest pet peeves are students who place grades above learning; prejudice based on race, religion, color, nationality, sex, or learning; and ‘solutions’ based on hacking off branches rather than healing or digging up roots” (James Heath).

Oh, What Fun. Ba Humbug!
Shawna and I have been to Dallas for a seminar the past few days. We thought we woudl take the truck to save miles on the other vehicle. This might have been a mistake.
Day 1: it was running very, very hot. I checked the fluids and everything was fine. It just did this day 1 with no real explanation. Well, at least not one that I understand but my knowledge about vehicles is limited (okay, non-existent).
Days 2-4: it was fine so I naturally did not give it any more thought. This might have been a mistake.
Day 5: We were on the way home with a detour to get the kids, stopped to get something to eat only to go back to the truck and watch it not start. We were south of Little Rock and stranded. I found someone to give us a jump start and we took off to Wal-mart. I bought a new battery and we took off to move a little further before we stopped for the night. I did not want to replace the battery so late at night but wanted to be prepared. We stopped just north of Little Rock at a hotel and I turned off the engine (it had been running about an hour). The dome light was dim and I knew the engine would not start again. Guess what I have to do tomorrow? Right. Change the battery. I guess it was a good thing that I decided to be prepared.
After being on information overload at the seminar, getting lost in Dallas two or three times (with a GPS), driving the wrong way on a one-way street (aske me later), and all this car trouble, we are just hoping we will make it home tomorrow.
I will keep you posted.
