From the Message Bin

"When studying the topic of history, there are two definitions with which one must constantly be aware. They are the definitions of 'history' and 'historical events.' Historical events are what actually happened while history is what someone has recorded as having happened. We can study history but we are ever ignorant of historical events. With this is mind, we see that history does not repeat itself, it's PLAGIARISM!" (Unknown).

Believe It!

As we blogged about previously, our little Miss Kay has a sore on her foot. She saw the specialist on Thursday who told us it looked good but would probably take six to eight weeks to heal. She is still allowed to wear her braces but we were encouraged to keep them off sometimes. The wearing-out she received for crawling (the intitial cause of the sore) apparently worked as she now stays in one place when she does not have her braces on. Here she is staying on the loveseat. But notice all the things she has -- a blanket, dolly, umbrella -- and to the side within her reach a backpack and other assorted toys.

Kaylee - It's Always Something

A few weeks ago, Kaylee got up early and started crawling all over the house. Now, she can't feel her feet and most times when she crawls all over the carpet, she will begin to rub sores in her feet. Thus, she is not allowed to crawl. So, I wore her her out because she is stubborn (she gets that from Shawna!) and crawled and, as we expect, got a rug burn on her foot.

We have been treating it but it simply has not been healing. Today, we decided to take her to the doctor. We took her to her pediatrician who referred her to her orthopedic surgeon. Hopefully she will be seen tomorrow. We will keep all updated.

It's Raining Cheetos

This week, we (Shawna and kids) are on spring break. So, the family is able to eat lunch together. Today, during lunch, Dad was trying to fold his paper plate up to finish eating his cheetos the lazy way. However, this backfired. The cheetos ended up flying everywhere making a huge mess. We later found out that there was even one of the flying cheetos that landed on Dad's head. We laughed up a laughter storm after this. Lunch is never boring with Dad around.

Don't You Step on My Blue Suede Shoes!

For several years now, I have wanted a pair of Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star shoes. Several places had them for sale but I did not find a pair that reached out at me. Most of you know that I am a shoe fanatic and shop for shoes like I shop for neckties -- they have to call out to me!

About a year ago, I discovered the perfect solution. I found you can design your own shoes at the Converse website. Even more, you can get them in suede! I had to go for a pair of blue suede shoes. It is just the unique combination that matches my nonconformatively weird personality. Then, I discovered I could have them personalized. Oh my, I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

I wanted them bad but just couldn't bring myself to do it. But oh, Shawna (the blessing of my youth) jumped at the chance to do it for me. I love her so!

Now, in the the words of the king himself:

Don't you step on my
blue suede shoes!
