Yea, like it would help!

So, as Kaylee was coming home from school on the school bus today, I was on the roof putting up Christmas lights. She yells up at me and we talk for a bit. I told her to go into the house and do her homework. She agreed but responded in a very loving way:

"Dad, you be careful up there and don't fall off the house. If I am inside, no one will be here to call 9-1-1!"

Oh, I love her so! (most...no, all...of the time)

We Decked the Halls (uh...house, inside and out)

This past Saturday, we got the Christmas decorations down out of the attic and went to town.

Of course, we set up a tree. The kids decorated it by themselves this year. They are growing up so fast.

We hung the kid's stocking behind the chairs with the winter sign.

We hung more stuff on the walls.

Here is our fireplace. Of course, it does not have quite the same effect on a flatscreen TV which is hanging on the wall. Here are the parents' stocking hanging by the fireplace. It kinda lost the effect with the new technology.

We really like the kitchen in our new house. There are good places above the cabinets for decorations. Check it out.

Shawna likes lights on the outside of the house. I do not like doing it. But, I took half a day off today and did it after not doing it for two years in a row. She was happy...which means I am happy!

We have to get a fuse to light Santa up, but he will light up soon!

Show us your decorations!

The Holiday with Family

This year for Thanksgiving, the family gathered at our house. There were a lot of people here.

Of course, we were here.
Russ, Lisa, and Chloe came on Tuesday.

Chris, Michelle, Brianna, and Brenson (due to be born in February 2012) came on Wednesday.

Followed by Grampy and G. Jo on Thursday.

In the post to come, J.T. and Kaylee are going to vlog about their memories.

He has grown!

Recently, J.T. outgrew his mother in terms of height. He was goofing off in the living room a little bit ago and we were impressed. He was singing, "Here I am slapping my back with my belt and, Whoa, my pants are falling off....!!" Sorry, you had to be there for the tune to his little jingle.

As we investigated the issue, we discovered he was wearing (and had been wearing for the evening) my pants!!! Now, don't get me wrong, I am thrilled he can even wear my size of a waist even with a belt! But, I am concerned no one noticed they were a bit (just a bit) too long!

I guess he is growing up!

Another Week ... Another Update

It has been a great week this week. At one point, I (Jeremy) had no clients! I know that sounds weird but here it how it goes. The boys in the anger management program are all court ordered. They come in on the same day and then they graduate (if they graduate) on the same day discharging immediately after graduation. The last graduation was this past Thursday and six out of seven graduated. The one who did not gets to repeat the program with the next round which came in this past Saturday. We have four come in Saturday and it seems like it will be a pretty good group though it might be a little early to tell.

Shawna is anxious about her Thanksgiving break. She is not used to not having a fall break and the school she works for now gives her the entire week of Thanksgiving off. So, she says she is ready! She very much likes the new job and even had to administer a licensure exam yesterday but enjoyed it. The school for which she works (our alma mater) had their Homecoming celebration this past week and she secured tickets to the homecoming play. Shawna, Kaylee, and I went yesterday. We had a good time. More as to why J.T. did not go in a bit.

J.T. is in the seventh grade, thinks he is all that and a bag of chips, and active with the youth group at church. He went to a youth retreat this weekend and should be back this afternoon. He is trying to work on some yard clean up but it is not happening as fast as he (or I) would like because he is so busy all the time. He continues to do well in school. They completed an addition to the school and the sixth grade moved into the same building this past month. This means next year, he and Kaylee will be at the same school building. Kaylee claims she will annoy her brother like crazy. It will be interesting to say the least.

My school (Kaylee’s school) had a pancake breakfast yesterday. We did not go but I sold a lot of tickets and I won first place in the pancake breakfast ticket selling contest. I do not know if I will be getting a prize or not but it was a lot of fun.

The family (Grampy, G. Jo, Uncle Chris, Aunt Chelle, B, Brenson, Uncle Russ, Aunt Li, and Cho Jo) will all be coming to our house for Thanksgiving this year. We are way super excited about it. Some will be here a week from this coming Tuesday. We spent some time shopping for the big event last night and I am learning that it might have been cheaper to drive to another state like we usually do! Seriously, we plan to have a great time and are looking forward to seeing you all!

SNC 2011

So, our anniversary is next month and Shawna really likes the a capella group Straight No Chaser (Okay, I like them, too). Well, they were in a nearby town last night. So, we opted to celebrate early and go see them. It was a really good show. They are a group who can genuinely hold their audience with talent. We really had a good time. Oh, and a good celebration too!

A Long Awaited Update!

Okay folks, we know we have not been posting on the blog like we need to or like you would like for us to do. We are not promising this will get better but here is a long awaited update on what is going on in our lives.

As you know, Kaylee had a rather extensive surgery this past June. We are pleased to let you know all went well and she is really makeing progress at gaining some independence. Prayers have been answered! And we are, oh so grateful. She is working on total independence hopefully by March as her daddy promised her a trip to the beach over spring break if she will accomplish the goal.

This past summer was a busy summer for the family which is growing up faster than we would like. JT spent a week at his aunt Chelle's house and three separate weeks at summer camps of various kinds. Last year, he spent a lot of time away and got homesick somewhat. When he was asked about this concern this year, he simply siad, "I am older now and will be okay." He was okay and enjoyed all of them. Mom and Dad are not sure about him and Kaylee growing up so fast but that is happening whether they like it or not!

This past August, Shawna got a new job about three minutes from a house. This was a welcomed change to the 60 minunte drive she was making. She is now teaching college and really enjoying the job. The family is so proud of her!

Also, this past August, my (Jeremy's) job description changed. I am now working about a thrid of the case management responsibilities which I had and have taken on one to two clients in the addictions program as well as up to eight clients in the anger managment program. All of this is taking place at the same organization I have been working with for a little over a year now. I have found that I really enjoy counnseling and working with this population. It has been a welcomed change.

With Shawna's change in jobs, both the kids moved to the local school system where we live. JT made the change in March last year which has been really good for him. Kaylee moved in August and is really, really enjoying the new school and riding the bus. I (Kaylee) have already made lots of new friends, have one new best friend whose birthday is coming up, and love the fact that I can take care of myself and do not have to go to school with my mother.

Also with the change in Shawna's job, she found out she needed a new car. The old one had 230,000 miles on it and a cracked head. It was more feasible to get a new car. I (Jeremy) was totally shocked when she opted for a smaller, more economical car when she only drives three minutes to work. However, the price tag made me happy to make the change. She is enjoying her new Camry.

With the recent move to another state, a change in jobs, and other changes which have taken place, the family has not been able to take a family vacation. So, over the Labor Day holiday weekend, we decided to go to Mammoth Cave National Park. We had a pretty good time except Jeremy's back decided to go out and ruined some of it for us. However, we got to go to a Hard Rock Cafe in Kentucky, visit the cave, went to a place called Dino Land, took Kaylee shopping (something she loves!) but missed the Corvette museum due to the bad back. It was still nice to get away for a few days.

About three weekends ago, the family went to family camp, a work of the congregation we attend regularly. It was a lot of fun. Jeremy got to speak, Kaylee got to hang out with a lot of her friends, JT was nowhere to be found because he was hanging out with his friends, yet another indication he is getting older, and Shawna got to rest a while from the pressures of her new job. It was a great uplifting weekend for us all.

One of the saddest (noteworthy) events in the family is the fact that the kids did not dress up for Halloween. Kaylee said she was too old for it and helped with some little kid activities at Trunk-or-Treat. JT says he was a black belt in tae kwon do but the truth is he visited the Trunk-or-Treat immediately after going to tae kwon do practice and just put on his black dress belt for fun! They are growing up and will be back in costumes when they get to high school!

Two weekends ago, the guys (Jeremy and JT) met Grampy for for a weekend camping trip. It was great during the day. Not so great at night, The first night, we froze. The second night, we opted for a motel as we would go to service together the next day and did not want to show up smelling like campfire smoke. Oh, and we did not want to be cold, either! We had a great time as always. God's creation is truly amazing.

I (Kaylee) just got a new bed because I was falling out of the old bed as it was very, very small. My new bed is a full-size bed and I am enjoying it so much that I just want to skip school and sleep in it all day.

The family is super excited about everyone coming to our house for the Thanksgiving holiday. We are looking forward to hosting the holiday gathering and hope that all will enjoy it in our new house!

That is all for now. We hope you feel updated.
