Are You Kidding Me?!?

So, I am trying to adjust to my kids growing up but things are happening which are giving me a challenge. My youngest, Kaylee, is old enough to go the sixth-grade banquet. She does not want to go with a guy but I know that idea is right around the corner! So, this past Saturday, she and Shawna decided to go banquet-dress browsing and, in the midst of making plans to do so, Shawna asked me if I wanted to go indicating she might like it if I did (she later referred to it as a brain-lapse). I was not on board. Don't get me wrong. I help cook and clean at times. I have even gotten a manicure with my daughter. I simply felt dress-shopping might cross a line I am not willing to cross. I replied, "Really, honey, asking me to go banquet-dress shopping really cuts away at the very little manhood I think I might have!"

JT said, "Asking my dad to go banquet-dress shopping is like asking Bill O'Reilly to be peaceful for one night!" I concur!

Getting Back Into the Groove... Sort of...

Mom did go back to work this week! FINALLY! But, Bubba and I only had two days of school instead of five due to bad weather earlier in the week. Due to the holiday tomorrow, we are only scheduled for four days of school this week. It is working out okay.

Dad is still going to work and worked five days this past week. He got to come home early one day due to weather but he is a little upset that the rest of us have gotten some time off. Ha Ha ! Dad is back to working on his paper and we are starting (believe it or not) to get back into a routine.

As mentioned, Mom started back to work this week. Don't ask me why, but she had to work a partial week but still worked on Saturday. I was confused. She is also working on her paper and says it is moving along nicely. She is a great mom!

Bubba got to have some friends over because they were out of school. They had a good time. They annoyed me a whole lot because that is what brothers do! He went to stay with the same friend last night and will be gone today because he is a teenager.

This week, I have been out of school. Monday, I had to listen to my brother and his friends go crazy. Tuesday was better because I got to have a friend stay the night and spend most of the day Tuesday with me. I think it was the first time I had a friend over for the evening and to stay the night since we have been in this house! I had so much fun putting on make-up, talking, trying to decide what we would wear to the banquet, and doing all kinds of girly things! Wednesday, we stayed hams all day and got to go to Bible study in the evening. Thursday, it was back to school. Saturday, I slept late and then my mom and I went browsing for a banquet-dress. The banquet is not until April but we ended up getting my dress last night! They had a huge sale we could not pass up! We also bought a bunch of girly stuff at the mall and other places . It was a lot of fun for me!

On Friday this past week, we got to go celebrate a birthday with some old friends where we used to live. It was nice to spend the evening with them.

See you next week!

A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That

This week has been very busy for some and not so busy for others (Mom is still not back at work! NOT COOL!). Bubba and I have been going to school (unlike Mom). Dad has worked...well....he has gone to work, anyway). Early in the week was fairly normal for us. The weekend started the fun!

On Friday evening, Mom and I went shopping (mainly grocery shopping but I did get some clothes with my Christmas money. Yay!). Dad and Bubba went to a restaurant they really love but does not sound too good to me. It is Mongolian stir fry. I don't see what they love about it but they sure like to go.

Today, a devotional group Bubba is a part of will be leading a worship service at an assisted-living facility. Bubba said he will be leading in serving the Lord's Supper. I know he and the rest of the young men will do a great job and we will blog more about it later.

Saturday was a lot of fun. After Dad worked a little but in the morning, we then got some much needed rest. I watched a movie I have been wanting to see for a long time. It was "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" and I really, really loved it. Starting at 4:00 PM, the family was hanging out and having family fun night. We played Phase 10 and, a little later, ordered pizza for dinner. We got to play while we ate which is a special privilege in our house. Dad made a chocolate cake which we (most of us, Bubba is weird and does not like desserts) had for dessert and a late-night snack. Bubba then had a friend (Jonathan) stay the night who will be helping in the service the young men are leading at the assisted-living facility. Jonathan's dad preaches in a place away so Jonathan had to stay with us to help out with the service. Truth be told, Bubba's friend is kind of like another brother to me. But, I would not tell him that! Jonathan played the last part of the Phase 10 game with us and only got two phases done. He liked to say he won by points.

Dad and I have a goal this week to do a little bit of vlogging. We will see how it goes.

You might find a lot of jokes about my dad and bubba in this post. That is because I love to make fun of them.

Another Week

School started back last Thursday. Mom still has some time off (boooooooo). So, we are starting to get back into the routine of things!

Last friday we went to somewhere close were we used to live. We got to see people we used to go to church with. Got to go to a restaurant we used to go to all the time. It was a lot of fun.

Last night the family went out to eat because mom thought we should because we haven't in a long time (and she is right). That was a lot of fun accept for the fact that we didn't get to use any electronics.
